The club championship tables have now been updated following the Wargrave 10k.
For those who know and go, there’s no Pilates/functional core strength class today (Monday 15 June) as Barbara is away.
For those who don’t know or don’t go, this is a Dashers-and-friends class held at Windsor Leisure Centre every Monday evening at 8:30pm. The class is designed to facilitate functional core strength; it uses core exercises from a variety of disciplines (mainly Pilates) to produce real, useful core strength and conditioning improvements, that should help keep you injury-free, and allow you to run or bike faster.
More details on Barbara’s website - http://www.beetoned.co.uk/
A sweltering run on an undulating course… but a few were rewarded with pb’s, including Ross and Mark Colley. Results to follow, but in the meantime some pics.

We have heard that one person got a PB last night by 45 seconds!!!
Kathryn did 23:57 on her watch and was very pleased after Tony’s training and the marathon ramp up to get this.
Also congratulations to Nick Wilkinson and anyone else who got a PB – please let us know.

The Masons report back from an international venture:
This was an interesting experience for all of us, especially for Philip as he can’t speak a word of French, making the briefing fairly redundant. A 750m pool swim, not normally attempted here, but done with ease by the people of Lille.
More about this in the newsletter. But as a warning to others do check how the swim is going to be conducted before entering.

Now that the Dash is done, why not put pen to paper (well fingers to keyboard) for the Summer edition of The Dasher?
As always Rich would love to receive as much as possible to continue the quantity (& quality if possible) of articles in past editions.
- race reviews (how about a review of the Dash?)
- gear reviews
- who is the Secret Dasher?
- training tips
- race tips
- food/drink suggestions
- new members – tell us a bit about yourself (running history, why you joined the Dashers, what you think so far)
- not so new members – tell us a lot about yourself and the Dashers
- caption competition photos
- anything!
Go on – try and send one thing at least (anything from a sentence to a couple of pages!) by Friday 19th June please. Email: newsletter at datchetdashers.com
This is the first race of the popular Yateley Road Race Series, ("Best Mid-Week Series" according to Runners World - I would plump for the Swansea Bay 5k series for the sea views but concede it’s a bit far!) consisting of three 10k road races, held on the first Wednesday of June, July and August.

A big thank you for all those Dashers, families and friends for helping out at today’s event and last night’s setting up.
Once again a successful event judging by the comments despite the weather, the runners seemed to love the rain but not so good for those of you helping out.
Also well done to all three pacing groups who all came in perfectly on schedule. Are we the only 10k that has pacers? Dave has suggested a 55 minute pacer as well next year to complete the set, naturally that will be a decision for the next race director but feel free to comment below if you have any thoughts.
The clubhouse has all the spare goody bags in it; please help yourselves as they all have to go, take some home for family and friends (just get them to sign up for the Dash next year).
… on the 4th July for The Runnymede Relay race and our annual Family Picnic!
The Race:
We are looking for Dashers of all abilities to make up a number of teams of six runners with each member running one leg of either 2.75 or 5.25 miles. We would also like to encourage new members to come along to enjoy this fun event and the team format. Faster runners are also needed to help ‘stack’ a winning team. The rules limit each team to six runners as follows (runners must be 12 years or older on race day):
| Male runner under 40 and 16 or over | (maximum of 3) |
| Lady runner of any age | (any number, 0 - 6) |
| Male runner over 40 or under 16 | (any number, 0 - 6) |
The first leg starts at 12 noon and the cost is £7 per runner.
Please email Claude (social.secretary at datchetdashers.com) if you would like to enter or write your name on the list in the club house. We will enter teams and collect the money when we have final numbers.

The Picnic:
We invite all members to come along with their families to enjoy a fun day out in the Great Park and to offer support to the teams. Please bring your picnic blankets, food, drinks and any picnic games that you may have. Runnymede Runners will provide a BBQ at modest prices as well as a fun run for under 12’s.
Could you let Claude (social.secretary at datchetdashers.com) know if you plan to come along; also feel free to contact him if you have any questions and we look forward to seeing you there.
Well done Elaine & Tom on successfully completing the Edinburgh marathon on Sunday! (Click their names to see photos of them in action.)

Another two records fell at the Burnham 5K on Tuesday: Sharon Helsby broke the ladies V35 age group record which was previously the longest held record (last broken in 2000!) with a time of 20:29, whilst Rachhpal Bath set a new men’s V70 record with a time of 32:10. See the club records page for the rest of the current records.
