Bupa London 10,000 - 30th May 2011

Monday, May 30th, 2011

Bella Shah finished just over a minute faster than last year, Martin Richardson ran a new PB, and Ceri Richardson actually beat her 5k PB in the first half. A successful day I think.

Farnham Bluebell Run

Monday, May 16th, 2011

The inaugural running of this off-road race saw about 500 people run a combination of the hilly 5k and 10k that were on offer. Chris Bradfield continued his tentative return with a distant 2nd place in a time somewhere of 39:48. The course and the bacon butty afterwards were both very enjoyable! :)

Bristol 10k - 15th May 2011

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

Steve Fell ran this very popular and high quality race, finishing in 35:53 for 112th position.

Great Manchester Run 10k - 15th May 2011

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

Andrew Ogierman set himself the unusual challenge of running this race twice, once in the first wave and then rejoining the start and running again in last wave. He completed run 1 in 56:35, then the 2nd in 1:03:35. Next year there’s always the Great Salford Swim as well Andrew :)

Market Drayton 10k - 8th May 2011

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

A race that nearly didn’t happen owing to sponsors pulling out at the last minute. Thankfully the local clubs pulled together and kept the event going, and Adrian Haines ran an excellent 40:43 for 63rd place.

Run For Health 10k, Modesto, CA - 16th April 2011

Sunday, April 17th, 2011

Hottest day of the year so far and over 70F at 9:30 in the morning, not the best recipe for a pasty white Brit running a race with all these bronzed Californians. But a time of 40:11 was good enough to get David Priddy 3rd place overall.

Buff Epic Run

Monday, January 3rd, 2011

Kathryn Black reports from Barcelona….

The 19th December saw the Buff Epic run in Barcelona, a 9km obstacle race in fancy dress (Santa outfits) A great time was had by the 1600 finishers and it’s less of a race and more of a great fun event. Not the quickest 9km times ever, but that was not the point!

Knacker Cracker!

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

While most of us recovered from the New Year festivities, Tom and Lucy had the small bump that is Box Hill to run up and down! At around 10k in length and with about 475m of ascent, the race does exactly what it says on the tin.

Tom reports

Although the Knackercracker has the self acclaimed title of the ‘Toughest 10K in Britain’ it is also voted as the best; and in our eyes it certainly earned both reputations. Very steep hills, nice views, good marshalling, much camaraderie and a great goodie bag made this a great way to start 2011. Most of the entrants run in fancy dress with two ‘naked men’, a couple of Grim Reapers, several Morph’s and The Spice Girls running.

Lucy ran very well coming in as third lady and winning a prize with a time of 59 mins or so, and I finished (which is good enough for me).  We will definitely be running next year but in the spirit of the race will be in fancy dress

Photos are here if you want to see some very strangely-dressed people!

87th Jean Bouin 10k 21st November

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

Another report from Kathryn and Simon…

The Jean Bouin used to be 9.5k, but is now the standard 10k distance and is run through the streets of Barcelona. The first half is downhill followed by a twisty uphill second half. Waking up 40 minutes before the race is due to start is not ideal preparation, but after cycling and running to the start we made it just in time.

The race started at 9am and both Kathryn & Simon had good runs despite the lack of food and preparation to record good times. There were 13 races on the day with the winner recording just over 29 minutes for 10K which is not too shabby
