Barcelona Half Marathon

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Simon Black reports:

The sunshine went missing for a day in Barcelona and with Kathryn injured and sadly only able to support today, it was left to Simon to wear the Dashers top with pride. A PB by 2 1/2 minutes meant it was worth the early start

Watford Half Marathon - 7th February 2010

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Neil Potter and Brent Curless ventured over to Watford for the half marathon, posting fairly similar times of 1:40:08 and 1:40:35 respectively.

Bedford Harriers Half Marathon - 13th December 2009

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

Four Dashers turned out for this event on a cold and blustery day. Leading the way was Ion Cristoveanu, who despite finding the cold conditions tough, finished his first half marathon in 63rd place in a time of 1:23:03. Confirmed heatophobe David Priddy on the other hand enjoyed the cold conditions to finally break the 90 minute barrier, finishing 123rd in 1:28:01, and this despite being up most of the night with a dodgy stomach. Maybe 3 hours sleep before a race is the way to go! Next up was Brent Curless who posted his fastest time in nearly 5 years with 1:34:56 for 271st, whilst Paul Turnbull recorded 1:49:37 and 785th. Not quite a PB for Paul, but his best time in nearly 2 years and reward for the hard work he’s put in over the summer and autumn.

Dorset Half Marathon – 7 November 2009

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Brent says: A PW but given that the winner took 1.50 it gives you some idea of how tough this wonderful event was. My first proper experience of trail racing and I loved it. For those of you that know the South Coast it started in Charmouth and took in StoneyBarrow Hill, Seatown and Golden Cap. I’m hooked and have another 3 Coastal half Marathons booked this winter. Check out the great company that puts them on. http://www.endurancelife.com/

Marlow Half – 1 November 2009

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Brent says: Gosh – I forget how tough those hills are. Don’t tell anyone but I had to walk near the top of the last one. I kept looking over my shoulder to see if Mike was catching me up. Lashing rain and almost cross country conditions meant that times were down but a great time was had by all. Well – the tea tent afterwards anyway!

Great North Run

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Pretty good conditions at the GNR resulted in some scorching times at the front of the race, and this was reflected further down the field.

Andy Cooney was the star of the show for the Dashers, finishing in an excellent 55th overall, and 4th in his age group – and a scant 12s outside his pb!

Further back, there was good, consistently-paced running from Graeme, Tom and Nikki, and Bella. Everyone finished in the top 40% of the field, testament to some very hard training!

Down Tow Up Flow Half Marathon – 26 July 2009

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Martin Kelsey completed the course in 2:29:31, but this did include spending 40 minutes with a runner who collapsed just in front of him. For those of us at the Race For Life on Sunday morning who overheard the confusion about the arrival of the air ambulance, this is the person who it was for.
