Divided Dash 2009

Entries are now open for the 3rd annual Divided Dash. This year’s event takes place on May the 19th starting @ 1930 sharp (so please get there at 1915 to collect your number).

What is the Divided Dash?
The Divided Dash is a madcap, fun 4 x 2.5k relay around the outside of Home Park. Each runner is handicapped based on their 5k and/or 10k performances, and teams of 4 are drawn at random.

It’s a relay, so the first runner on each team does their lap and hands on to the team’s second runner, who runs and hands on to the third runner, etc

The run is for members of the Datchet Dashers only.

Who wins?
The overall event winner is the fastest team once the handicaps have been applied - this could be the last team to finish the race! - and there are also prizes for

  • the fastest individual runner
  • the fastest runner once the handicaps have been applied
  • the fastest team on the night
  • the slowest team on the night
  • the team that gives the most vocal support!

Actually, everyone wins, because there are drinks and free pizza upstairs in the cricket club.

How do I enter?
If you’re reading this, please enter online as it makes my life much easier. Alternatively, please put your name on the list in the clubhouse. Please don’t do both (I reserve the right to give you a nasty look if you do!)

When you enter, you need to provide a recent time for a race, preferably a 5k or 10k race; please remember to provide both the time and distance!

Entries close at midnight on Wednesday May 13th. Teams are published on Thursday May 14th

But what about the teams? How do I get on a team?
Teams are drawn at random. Please enter as detailed above (please fill out all fields!), and I’ll work out the handicaps, draw up the teams at random, then post them on the website, mailing list and in the clubhouse.

I’ve entered but it’s just before the event and I can’t make it! What do I do?

If the teams haven’t been published, please let me know, and I’ll remove you from the entries list.

If the teams have been published, let me know and I’ll try to arrange a substitute.

If it’s the day of the event, please let me know (07884 316017) and let one of your teammates know. We will try to arrange an alternative runner.

Please please please don’t simply not turn up! It’s rude, disrespectful to your teammates, and bloody annoying!

Can I help out?
Yes please! On the evening, we need two timekeepers and one marshal. If you’d like to help, please reply to this email and let me know.

"What’s the …", "Can I …", "Where’s…"
If you have any questions, drop me an email (chrisbradfield at gmail dot com) or give me a call (07884 316017) and I will try to answer!
