Inclusion Policy
Updated 2024-08-04
‘Inclusion’ means access for all. It means recognising and respecting differences between individuals.
Datchet Dashers embraces diversity and difference. We want our club to be equally accessible to all members of society, whatever their age (provided they are 18 years old or above), disability, gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, religion, social or economic status.
Our aim is to provide an environment where everyone feels:
-
Welcome
-
Represented and included in decision making
-
Able to participate
-
Safe and free from discrimination, bullying, harassment and vilification
As a not for profit Club run entirely by volunteers, current and potential members must recognise that the Club has limited resources to assist those with disabilities and those of limited economic status.

Ability / disability
We are a running club, and potential members should be able to run 5k in order to join.

Members should also refer to our Health and Safety Policy regarding the potential hazards that arise when running.
The Club will continue to make sure that on club nights:
-
Runners always have someone to run with of similar ability.
-
No one ever gets left behind during a run.

The Club will continue to be inclusive to members no longer able to run by valuing their contribution to the club in other ways, such as organising races and marshalling. Non-running members are included in social events.

Members are encouraged to recognise others and think how to overcome other barriers to inclusion, such as anxiety about trying new events or finding a venue. Often the simple act of offering a lift and advice on what to expect and what kit is required can overcome such barriers.
Financial
-
The Club continues to keep its annual membership fee as low as possible and compares very favourably with many other local clubs and societies.
-
The Club offers free of charge coached training sessions, Cross Country League entry, and has recently introduced free Summer 5k series entry. The Club offers several free social activities during the year.
Inclusion is everyone's responsibility. The Club is open to suggestions regarding how it might be more inclusive in the future.
