June saw the continuation of the Summer 5k series with events at Cookham, Handy Cross and Maidenhead, Dashers were well-represented at all three.
Lots of Dashers were out for the Wargrave 5 mile on 9 June. Well done to James Samson who won convincingly overall and in his V40 category which was also a club record. Plaudits also to Yvonne Olney and Robin Smith for winning category prizes.
15/16 June saw Endure 24 with 6 dashers teams entered - Datchet Dashers Men, Dashing Day n Night, Trailblazing Dashers, Dashing Dashers Again, A Dash of Bitters and Dashers & Bacon Rashers (sensing a theme here). There was rain, mud, tents, sausage butties, copious amounts of tea and a new eatery named Café Olney (according to the photos). By all accounts (and photos) it was a great weekend and a wonderful running experience.
18 June saw the Blind Dash, despite a rather soggy Tuesday in Windsor. Congratulations to Ben Blazquez who won with only 22 seconds out on his predicted time. Second place went to Steven Jones who was 33 seconds out and in third place was Jamie Beauvais on 34 seconds out.
The day after saw some Dashers at Langley Park for the second run in the summer series (who knew you could get 4 'inclines' in a 5k route) and others taking on the Forest 5 mile.
In other runs, Ali Allen won her age group at the Half Lakesman 70.3 - a challenging race, in the Lake District and Stephanie Muzzall was part of the Lakesman Relay.
Henry and Jean Dodwell did the Misbourne 10k, a hilly trail run with Henry as second make and Jean as second female - loving the symmetry guys!
The end of the month was a busy time with lots of Dashers out running and volunteering, Sunday 30 June saw Beat the boat, the Wendover 10k and Run Wexham 5/10k. I think everyone was happy that these events were on the Sunday which was hot but not nearly as hot as Saturday 29 June which was the hottest day of 2019 by far.
Thanks to all those winners who wore their Dashers jackets on the podium - great publicity for the club and you all look incredibly smart.
Dashers, there are lots of photos of all the above events, plus more on the FB page. For those reading this on the website, we are a friendly group who love running - as you can see. For more information about the club and how to join, visit www.datchetdashers.com
